I played stay-at-home-nurse for the five days Shirin recovered from surgery and used the opportunity to catch up on some much neglected home computer challenges. I think I need another five days : -(

Jasmine and I went to a restaurant just outside the Damascus Gate, and she ordered the 'Kid's Meal with Pizza.' A toy came with that special, and last time she received a water pistol. This time she received a plastic pair of handcuffs. Do you think a society's toys reflect the culture?

Local people have been somewhat encouraged by recent news, but there is always room for suspicion. We take comfort in knowing of your intercession for real Peace to be found.

Since we always need "one more" person to pray for us, please feel free to recommend the 'Wednesday Weekly' to other like-minded intercessors in your circle of friends. Invite them either to send an e-mail or to subscribe at our website.

I'm glad to have you with us. Have an awesome week! May God find us listening more attentively to His voice this week as I am,

Yours because His,

Scott

+ Half our electricity had been going off all these past two weeks, and I'd turned off various transformers and appliances in an attempt to find a 'short' to no avail, so you prayed with us that we would find a solution to this annoying challenge... our landlord brought an electrician to examine the breaker box, and he found a short in the wiring that goes to the water heater. The overhead lights have been on since he left, so it looks like our evenings will be easier. I mentioned the 'light of the world' and saw the conversation change all too quickly.

+ You continued praying that we'd find how to get the library computers to make use of the shared ADSL (high-speed) connection... a few of you responded quickly, so we may be on to something by way of mixing 8-wire cables with 4-wire cables. Thanks for such insightful help!

+ You continued praying, too, that I'd be able to get the laptop back to printing from the printer connected to the desktop... another long time personal intercessor responded quickly, but I've rendered the case as hopeless (and annoying). I'll start a new scenario next month to see what happens.

+ You also continued praying for the removal of items not belonging inside the Prayer Garden like extra rocks, concrete, stumps, and the sort... receiving "spending approval" had been a recent delay until one with the authority to grant approval came to visit! Once I can get the whole plan/budget drafted in incremental phases, things may move faster (?).

+ You prayed with us that "Rain Bird" would come through with a reasonable estimate for the Prayer Garden's irrigation system, and I asked that if you knew of anyone who'd like to go above and beyond giving, please let us know... the estimate for parts alone came just under $2,990. The opportunity is still there.

+ You prayed that we would receive all the additional visa paper work requested of us and that, as we submitted it, our visas would be cheerfully granted... we're only missing a letter or two, and then it'll still be a "wait-n-see."

+ Last weekend looked like a day when the three of us would be able to join some co-workers for a day off, so you asked God that I would be refreshed and that the uninterrupted time as a family will be 'stress releasing'... while the three of us didn't get to join those co-workers for a shared day off, I did manage to get refreshed that day as well as enjoy the stress releasing uninterrupted family time you prayed we'd have. Thank you : -)

+ During Monday you prayed that I would be able to assist another co-worker in the development of computer related items... your prayers made a difference as we were able to connect an external IBM CD writer to a Compaq laptop. Progress was made thanks to your intercession. Thank you!

+ You asked God to make it possible for me to concentrate on preparing for a September meeting where I'll be sharing the purpose/progress/potential of the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem... I was able to do this Thursday and made a good dent! I tried e-mailing the 20MB file across town but encountered a size-limit on attachments. Once I limited the size of attached files, however, it came through corrupted : -(

+ While you were asking Him about that, you prayed with me that I would be able to set aside the time necessary to develop our Sep/Oct "Wednesday Weekly" newsletter... no sooner does the Wednesday Weekly reach your Inbox that I suddenly 'find the time' to compose most of the newsletter!

<T H I S  W E E K><

<>< Pray that Jasmine would have another great "Burger King Day" on the 30th as she turns 50 months (4y 2m).

<>< Ask God to grant the safe, uneventful arrival of two volunteers.

<>< Pray that the necessary, required information for a visa extension would be received this week so that we can take the next step to securing a long overdue visa.

<>< Ask God to bring together the people who can lay out the financial steps for the development of the International Prayer Center of Jerusalem (IPCJ).

<><  Keep praying that the necessary changes would be made to get the library computers sharing the ADSL connection.

<>< Join us in asking God to remove financial 'red tape' holding up the progress of the Prayer Garden.

<>< Pray with us that our Sep/Oct "Wednesday Weekly" newsletter would be finished and in the mail by next Wednesday.

<>< Ask God to grant me the ability to focus on the accomplishment of preparations for the September meeting where I'll be sharing the purpose/progress/potential of the IPCJ.

>< Pray for the Shan Dai. >
