As you can see from the subject line, I broke the "200 lb." barrier last week : -)

Your intercession has played a key role, and I thank you.  Mid-June saw me at 247, and mid-November saw me reach the first goal of 220 (100kg).  Five months yielded a 27 lb. loss, but it only took two months to lose twenty pounds!  the difference?  I began eating healthier in November by eating mostly high-water content food (fruits/vegetables) and sticking to the "no food" after 8pm rule; actually, I don't eat much past 5 so my stomach can be empty by 8 to give my digestive system "full force" to do its job until 4am when it begins the eight-hour elimination cycle.  That 4am-noon time frame is when all I eat is fruit or juice.

I shared this news with someone and was told, "Well, you've lost it fast, so you'll put it back on just as quick."  Pardon the pun, but fat chance!  I've changed my eating style and attitude.  'Nuff said ;-)

I read this and was quite ecstatic:

SHOCCO SPRINGS, Ala. (BP)--Southern Baptists contributed a record $49.25 million to North American missions through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering in 2002 -- representing a 2 percent increase over the amount contributed the previous year.

Last week...

  1. You continued praying with me that I would get Shirin's desktop up and running, especially the DVD-ROM so a certain toddler can watch "Peter Rabbit"... I've been receiving a lot of help but, so far, we're still in the process of solving things.
  2. You continued praying for those from whom I buy fruits and vegetables to be drawn to the Father.  Ask the same thing for those in a newly begun Arabic class... I bought some fruit from "Ahmad," whose stand is about 20 yards from where Jesus was crucified, and wondered if he had heard the story.  Imagine... being so close, and yet so far.
  3. You continued praying for Jasmine as she enjoys two days of playgroup and another two days with a sitter while mom and dad go to Arabic class... we can tell the difference from your intercession and thank you : -)
  4. You asked God to show me how to solve a co-worker's computer/printer challenge this coming Friday... while we didn't find the LPT1 printer port, we did manage to solve a few other annoyances.  Thank you for praying so specifically!
  5. May the LORD God be exalted in the upcoming local elections... hmm, haven't heard anything yet.

This week...

  1. Ask God to grant us the patience to handle (and finish) undone projects.
  2. Pray for "Simon" as he learns to develop a prayer network.
  3. Remember Shirin as she celebrates her natural birthday Thursday.  Jasmine and I have a surprise cake for her... shhhh :-)
  4. Join us in giving thanks for Jasmine's stewardship with her allowance.  She has Altoids tins for her tithe, her savings, and her daily spending.
  5. Pray that I would take the rest I need.
  6. Ask God to give us His insight into an upcoming purchase.
  7. Continue praying over our language learning and cultural acquisitioning.
  8. Ask God to give "Bruce" special insight for learning how to use a computer efficiently.

May God find us listening more attentively to His voice this week as I am,

Yours because His,

Scott

PS - Enjoy this quiz although I don't recommend soft drinks

PPS - I'm a Mountain Dew even though I used to prefer RC and Dr Pepper.  We've given up carbonated drinks to save our tooth enamel.  Thanks, Lee ;-)
