Last week...

I believe I've found the solution to permanent weight loss... Harvey and Marilyn Diamond wrote about it in Fit For Life (an amazon.com search will pull it up).

* 4am-noon is the body's time for "elimination" from the previous day's food intake, and the body *only* needs fruit or fruit juice during this time. I've surrendered morning coffee and hope to wean away the afternoon "fix."

* 12n-8pm is the body's time for "appropriation" (eating and digestion), so the body needs high-water content foods (fruits/vegetables). These are eaten before 'concentrated' foods (breads, meats, dairy) but must be properly combined. There's more to the story than I can share in this space, but the book is worth a look. Perhaps it's in your public library?

* 8pm-4am is the body's time for "assimilation" (absorption and use), so nothing is eaten during this time period.

FWIW, I've lost 27 lbs. in 5 months and had intended to drop about 20 more by June 2004 to get back to 200 lbs. but now wish to lose 17 lbs. beyond that to get to and stay at 183 lbs.

Anyway, I had mentioned that I would be held accountable to you in this area. I'll continue to do so by posting my weight at the top of each week's page.

A special note to my friends in North Carolina - be a strong voice:

NORTH CAROLINA--N.C. committee to study current giving option that omits SBC.

Last week...

(1) You continued praying for the volunteers as they distributed food packages to needy Palestinian families. You prayed, too, that their return flight to the US would be without incident, especially with luggage... I haven't heard from anyone yet, so keep praying!

(2) You then prayed for the next volunteer team's safe, uneventful arrival... well, they're not here yet *but* your intercession for them will not go to waste!

(3) It looked like I might get to finish my first Arabic class last week that didn't get interrupted due to an evacuation! I was beyond grateful to "finish" such a task and coveted your prayers as Dan and I continued to study together. Also, you prayed that our curious classmates might be drawn to Jesus and that we would be ready to draw the net... yes, the course was completed but without the inquiries Dan and I anticipated. Good thing the course will continue in a week or so!

This week...

(1) Pray that the situation in Gaza improve to the point where a certain 3-year-old (and her parents <g>) might be able to return to visit friends.

(2) As my mom celebrates her birthday this week, ask God to make the reality of a second birth shine for her.

(3) Rumor has it that the visa office has re-opened, so join me in asking God to have our visas granted.

(4) Continue praying for the work the last volunteer team accomplished (and that they would remain safe in His care).

May God find us listening more attentively to His voice this week as I am,

Yours because His,

Scott
