"The greatest barrier keeping the gospel from all peoples is not false religion or oppressive government," Jerry Rankin said. "The greatest hindrance to the gospel is the unwillingness of Christians to make a 'whatever it takes' commitment to the one who commanded them to make disciples of all the nations."

Exploring God's call to overseas missions? going.imb.org/index.asp

Last week...

(1) As "Omar" and I spent time together, you asked God to draw him to Himself... we had a great day getting haircuts and shopping for fruit; however, I didn't really see him being drawn to God. I do believe that I'm gaining more of his trust and that he's seeing how my actions match my words.

(2) You prayed that the government strike would end so life would return to 'normal' and that our visas would be issued... from the news at http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/A/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1036987683163 it appears that the strike will end soon! Your prayers made a difference!

(3) You asked God to use the next set of volunteers to make an eternal difference in the lives of the people here... one of the volunteers has a unique ability to improve websites! Once upon a time I tinkered with developing www.palestinian-arabs.com/ but wasn't satisfied with merely listing nearly every city, town, village, and refugee camp where Palestinians lived. Such a listing was supposed to give groups the opportunity to adopt that location for EKG (embracing Kingdom growth). Anyway, this particular volunteer will work with those now responsible for maintaining the website, and I am *excited* to see the improvements! Be sure to visit and bookmark www.palestinian-arabs.com/ today!

(4) As my youngest sister celebrated a birthday last week, you asked God to make the reality of her second birth come to life... I didn't hear of this happening this week, so please make this a matter of ongoing prayer.

This week...

(1) Continue praying for the volunteers as they distribute food packages to needy Palestinian families. Pray, too, that their return flight to the US would be without incident, especially with luggage.

(2) Pray for the next volunteer team's safe, uneventful arrival.

(3) It looks like I may get to finish my first Arabic class this week that didn't get interrupted due to an evacuation! I am beyond grateful to "finish" such a task and covet your prayers as Dan and I continue to study together. Also, pray that our curious classmates might be drawn to Jesus and that we would be ready to draw the net.

May God find us listening more attentively to His voice this week as I am,

Yours because His,

Scott

"Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you...," 1 Samuel 12:23

* CALENDAR UPDATES *

6, a full day of electricity

* Praise the Lord for His goodness! It even stayed on while we stepped out of the house : -)

As an added bonus, I learned where to go to pay the electric bill myself! (I guess you can tell the postal system is, uh, "different" in terms of reliability, eh?)

7, safe arrival of packages/mail

* We received one the other day that was intact : -)

8, Muslims to meet Jesus while at the mosque

* Oh, I could sense the impact of your prayers on this first Friday of Ramadan!

9, Jewish settlers to know Jesus

* The ongoing cycle of violence would appear to make this impossible, but I'm sure your prayers are making a difference.

10, a new church to meet for worship

* The church with whom we worship has decided to start another church! Whoo-hoo!

11, Thank God for utilities!

* Today was a great day of full electricity and a good phone connection! You make a difference in our daily lives, and we thank you!

12, good working relationships

* Today went well, especially in coordinating efforts to work with volunteers.
