Jeremiah 15:16 proved refreshing this week as I read, "Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart." I long to bring together the two things that will last forever: God's Word and people. Your ongoing intercession will enable us to do this, and we thank you : -)

Once upon a time I was able to send 'personalized form emails' thru Shirin's laptop by way of a wonderful 'Mail Merge' feature in Outlook 2000 that takes the 'phone list view' from Contacts and merges your selections into a Word 2000 document you can edit. Each person receives an email with his/her email address in the 'To:' box. At any rate, I can no longer get this feature to sing and dance as it should : -(

I've been wanting to use this for some time as there are a few domains, AOL for one, that seem to reject a mass 'BCC' emailing (sigh) So it goes...

Now for the good news... I ran into a friend from elementary school and will be visiting him in his home today. Pray that "Winston" would fall under Holy Ghost conviction and surrender his life to Jesus, and then pray that he would find a 'family' to take care of him every week.

Also, I started over fresh with a clean hard drive and, consequently, lost the 'Sent Items' folder. I think, however, things are improving : -)

I could tell that you were praying for me Tuesday when (1) I was able to publish a soon-to-be-announced* web site and (2) Shirin's email works perfectly on her laptop < snjfaye@bigfoot.com > Now she only needs time to get to it <g>

( * Please advise when this can be made public, Paul.)

But, wait, there's more!

Last week...

* I remember asking you to pray for our newsletter advocate to catch on quickly and, wow, did she ever! Thank you for praying!

* My dad expressed an interest in sharing Jesus with his Muslim co-workers, which came as a surprise to me. As he and I sat talking 'strategy,' my heart broke as I recognized his loss of power to convey His truth. We spent a lot of time in Eph 6 looking at God's armor. Keep praying that my dad would fall in love with Jesus and walk with Him day by day.

This week...

* Well, it's time to pack up the house and put things in storage for some time. Ask God to give us wisdom and discernment on how to do this. Ask Him, too, to prevent us from getting on each other's nerves.

* Jasmine's birthday is this week, and she'll be celebrating it several times and in different ways. May she have a pleasant experience, and may those around her experience a second birth.

* My mother-in-law's birthday is this week, and we're in the US especially for this event. She is as lost as a white goose in a snowstorm wearing tennis shoes, so pray that she would be drawn to Jesus as we share Him with her this week. She has resisted our words ever since her daughter (my wife) gave her life to Jesus in 1984, but we realize that Mom is *powerless* against your intercession. There aren't a lot of folks beating down the door to share the gospel with her anyway, so I don't know if she'll get to hear it again. "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God," Romans 10:17

* We'll be meeting with prospective volunteers, so join us in asking God that we will be able to give them what they need from us.

Love and grace,

Scott

PS - I've enclosed an interesting piece of prophecy from a friend ministering in the West Bank. I hope you find it helpful as you continue interceding for lost people.

================

"Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function...." Romans 12:4

Many people describe missionaries as the legs in the body of Christ. They do the stepping out; without the legs, the body would go nowhere, stagnated and growing fat. But the legs would be nothing without the rest of the body. The head, of course, is Christ. Congregations can be seen as the trunk, to provide vital support functions for the legs. The legs cannot be strong unless the trunk is strong as well. Rejoice today that even though you may never be able to be Christ's legs-becoming a missionary-you can be a vital part of the missionary enterprise through your financial and prayer support.

Teach me, Father, how I can make the trunk more healthy!

When Israel recently halted its invasion of Palestine, it was against the wishes of some who wanted to see the PA completely dismantled. Israel's Defense Minister had promoted the invasion as a final action that would end terrorism. The reality, of course, was to be something different.

However, when the Lord said, "Israel, give life and receive it," He meant it.

It was conditional. World pressure was mounting against Israel. The still unsettled incident in Jenin backfired. The situation was looking bad for Israel, even though they appeared to be "winning" the battle on the ground.

When Sharon did pull back, Israel was left where it had started - facing continued terrorist attacks and living in fear. This is the way of life, and is generally expected, but the Lord is able to protect Israel with His own hand. He does not need Israel's military might. Israel needs Him.

In the last month, successful terrorist attacks have decreased, but not because of the invasion, or that radicals haven't tried. More than 30 attempts have been prevented by astute action one way or another. One of those plans was a triple suicide bombing in Israel. Another planned attack would have seen 7 simultaneous attacks that would have spiraled the situation into a regional and possibly third world war. Hundreds of innocent civilians would have been killed.

BUT...those plans did not succeed. Israel is detecting and stopping more attempts than ever before. We believe that the Lord is holding back the wrath of radicals in lieu of Israel's halting the invasion.

Anything can change the situation overnight, but it is our hope and prayer that Israel will see the situation with spiritual eyes instead of analyzing with natural eyes, and not revert to force. They are entitled to self defense and must continue with incursions to arrest radicals, but it is in their best interest presently to abstain from another military invasion.

I think the Lord desires a period of rest for both peoples, so that many can yet be saved. However, it does remain conditional. Israel will be tested.
