+ <L A S T W E E K><+ Scott turned 42 on 2-Nov and was asking for all that focused intercession from the yellow calendar, Mosaic, and other resources to be applied to the 'accounts' of Shirin's sister and mom that they would receive eternal life...I could tell your intercession was focused as we received a call from Shirin's mom. I told her what you were doing and, wow, did *that* phone conversation end quickly :-( I believe that conviction of sin is the first step toward repentance, and I appreciate your partnership in prayer. Thank you! + You joined Shirin and a co-worker in prayer as they went back to the Women's Center for a visit and to discuss ways to help in the center. They were continuing to wait on God to show them the "women of peace" (Lk 10) at the Center... Shirin writes, "Thank you for your prayers. God opened many doors for us today. We visited with the Center's Director and made plans for some up coming classes with the older women. I also asked the Director if she know of any deaf ladies that come to the center. The Director said none come to the center, but there is a family next to them that are deaf. The Director agreed to take us to meet them in two weeks. Also in our conversation I found out that her brother was shot by a random bullet after Friday prayers that shattered his right lower leg. During our time the spirit was shouting inside me to proclaim God's glory in this tragedy. I asked the Director if I could pray for her brother and his family. The Director had no idea what I meant, so I explained to her why I pray. She said politely 'Whatever you want.' I prayed the best I could and know only God could have given me the words and boldness to do it." + Shirin's friend was to have her cancer surgery on November 2, and you prayed that all would go well and that the surgeon wouldn't not find that the cancer had spread... Shirin writes, "My friend was very grateful for all your prayers. I spoke with her the day after her surgery and she said things went well. She was going to be released that day to recover at home." + Jasmine came down ill and was quick to ask for you to pray for her health to return to "good"...Jasmine thanks you for returning her to good health :-) <T H I S W E E K><<>< The three of us ask you to cover us as we plan on a visit to where we used to live, specifically asking God to handle emotions and feelings. <* Pray for the Kazakh of Kazakhstan.>< By my light, if we net-tithe, then we give the government the "first fruit" of our increase, and then the church gets a cut of the leftovers. But when you tithe the gross, you say, in effect, to the state, "Whatever you do, I’m giving first to the Lord, and then you can do as you wish to what remains. If that puts me in a bind, so be it, but your tax policies will not determine my manner of churchmanship." [ST> Amen and amen!] 25-Question Bible History Quiz $290M budget, 67 new missionaries, global results highlight IMB meeting. The entire Lottie Moon goal amount has been budgeted, with $141.2 million earmarked for mission operating expenses and the remaining $8.8 million for capital needs overseas. (Workers) planted churches among 19 people groups where no Baptist churches previously existed -– including 13 with no evangelical churches of any kind. “For 13 of these people groups, for the first time in their history there is a church representing our Lord and Savior to an unreached people that have never heard the Gospel, don’t have a Bible in their language and have never known what church looks like,” said Gordon Fort, IMB vice president for overseas operations. Fort said he wonders how Southern Baptists will respond to the ongoing global missions challenge as they contend with a growth crisis at home. The only global region with worse church-growth statistics than postmodern, secularized Western Europe, he reminded trustees, is the United States. “Eighty percent of our churches in the [Southern Baptist] convention are reported as plateaued,” which is another word for dying, Fort said. |
