Jasmine's summer camp came to a close and, wow, did she have fun! None of the children spoke English, so she latched on to her counselor and the two children who spoke Arabic. Not only did she make new friends, but she also learned to count from one to ten in Hebrew. Shirin and I often think Jasmine will be an interpreter at the UN <g>.

They're off to an overnight Bible Camp this week, and I'm excited about seeing Jasmine exposed to the Message from a different perspective. Later next month they'll have a five-day camp with the director and children from the orphanage, and that promises to be exciting! God has blessed me with a wonderful family :-)

Along those lines, I'd ask generic intercession for my family in the US. A recent e-mail has "upset the apple cart," so to say, and I know that only God can make it right - if they'll listen to Him :-(

Reality TV meets the local church.

Be sure to read to the end on this one: IMB trustees update global goals for church starting & baptisms.

I'm glad to have you with us. Have an awesome week! May God find us listening more attentively to His voice this week as I am,

Yours because His,

Scott

Matthew 24:14

+ <L A S T  W E E K>< +

+ Scott was having more opportunities to talk with the neighbors about his beliefs and asked that his words clearly communicate His message in accordance with I Corinthians 2:1-5... talk about baggage! I realize that listening to the same story (and objections) will eventually break ground but, wow, does my heart ache :-(

+ You asked God to give Shirin insight as she continues to learn language... Shirin writes, "Thank you for praying. I have been able to more boldly communicate God's message to the women and children around us."

+ As Jasmine finished camp last week, you prayed that she would continue to "do what's right" even though she'd been exposed to some inappropriate behavior... Your prayers are precious to us. Jasmine is learning that people act and behave differently. She is also learning what behavior is acceptable in our household. What an ambassador she will make for God. Thanks to your prayers Jasmine made some good friends in camp. One little girl always gave Jasmine a big hug in the morning and one before they left at the end of the day.

<>< In the midst of Scott's opportunity-laden week, ask God to bring someone looking to hear the Good News.

<>< Shirin and Jasmine are at "Bible Camp," and they ask you to join them in praying that women and children will receive Christ as Savior.

<>< Please pray for Jasmine and Shirin as they get back into the routine of home school. Pray that the fruit of the Spirit will abound during their school time.

>< Pray for a church planting movement among the Nimadi.>

CALENDAR UPDATES

<If you're not receiving our bimonthly snail-mail newsletter, let us know so we can send it to you!><

20, Pray for the ladies meeting in the Old City of Jerusalem, asking God to reveal Himself for Who He really is. May He find open and receptive hearts!

* Shirin writes, "Thank you for your continued prayer. God is active and alive in the ladies' meetings. The women are growing in faith and knowledge slowly. Women here are taught to put themselves last even in just important decisions like this."

21, safe food

* So far, so good :-)

22, Pray for the girls and staff of the Lazarus Home for Girls in biblical Bethany to know Jesus as Savior.

* Shirin writes, "Your prayers have recently opened opportunities for me to share parts of my testimony with the staff."

23, Pray for settlers to know Jesus as Lord.

* As you hear of them in the news, please pray.

24, Pray for the health and safety of volunteer groups who have come here to plant seeds. Pray, too, for their “back home” testimonies.

* A lot of you receiving this know how this has been answered :-)

25-26, Ask God to bear witness to His word among the service station attendants with whom we frequent.

* Monday is usually the day to fill up, so my expectations were high; unfortunately, today was not the day :-(
