In case you missed it, last night was the holiest night on the Islamic calendar. "The Night of Power" (lay-lit al-KUDder) is allegedly the night Muhammad received "new" revelations from the angel Gabriel (cf, Galatians 1:8,9). Many Muslims believe that on that special night, the heavens "re-open" and all of their prayers are answered. Many who truly seek God often tell of dreams and visions of seeing a "different Jesus" from the one they read about in the Qur'an.

Speaking of which, I came across two new gospel tracts recently and, wow, are they packed! "The Little Bride" tells about the witnessing influence of Islam and can be found here. "Squatters" gives an interesting and fairly accurate insightful look at the Middle East situation and can be found here.

Another site on witnessing to Muslims can be found here.

The North American Mission Board recently released a DVD on how to share your faith with Jehovah's Witnesses. Try this link.

As for last week's US election, I'm so glad the string was broken!

One of the things about which I must continually remind myself is to do what God is blessing and not ask God to bless what I'm doing. That came to mind during a recent computer update time at the Prayer Center when the "best" computer we have refused to boot. A four-year old plus Pentium computer running Windows XP (SP2) kept going through 'checkdisk' until finally the endless reboot cycle came to an end by yours truly. (The other two donated computers are of the 486 variety and can only handle Windows 98.)

It was then that I inserted the startup floppy to run Drive Image so I could restore the system to a formally perfect setup; however, after several disk errors and some unsettling noise emitting from the bowels of the CPU, I put the burial cloth, er, dust cover back on and decided to wait for another day to tackle what may be a lost cause. Worst case scenario? Start looking around for at least one new system; unfortunately, the lint in my pockets may not purchase much.

While I realize God's interest is in seeing every nation (Gr, eth-nos; people group) give Him the worship He deserves (Revelation 7:9ff) and while I understand that He wants to use the Prayer Center to help accomplish this, I must continue to believe that His timing is perfect. Even though our doors are not officially 'open' (so to speak) since you'd really have to use your imagination to visualize what we want you to experience in the Garden, the time is coming when God's people will provide the means to bring about what will become a major stop for evangelical tourists.

Finally, try this page for a boast of encouragement!

+ You prayed with me that a special errand to find an engraved brass plate would be accomplished... once again, "nothing gets done in a day." :-(

+ You joined Shirin and co-laborers as they prayed on Thursday for each woman who attends the Bible Study in the Old City. Shirin and the others needed encouragement and guidance on how to help the women embrace their salvation in Christ and not to turn back to their old ways... Shirin writes, "Thank you for praying with us. The women have so many needs and concerns - where do you start? We are so grateful that the Lord does know where to begin and how to meet each and every one of their needs. I also learned about some more resources to help women accept Christ."

+ You joined us in giving thanks for Jasmine's unselfish sacrifice of after-school play and her weekly ballet lesson in order to surprise me with a secret visit to Burger King. It seems she's showing how to "give."

<>< Ramadan comes to a close this week, giving Jasmine a few days off from school; consequently, a brief family vacation is under way. Pray with us that we'll be refreshed and renewed for the coming days.

<>< Continue praying with us that the Prayer Garden of the Prayer Center would "take shape" in these coming days and that those who come to intercede would hear His voice to stand in the gap on behalf of a specific unreached people group.

<>< Pray with Shirin as she seeks Gods direction in how to share the Good News with parents and teachers in Jasmine's School.

>< Pray for the Osijek.>
